PM's popularity continues to soar: poll

Malcolm Turnbull is now preferred by 80.8 per cent of voters as the better prime minister, while Bill Shorten's popularity continues to drop.

Malcolm Turnbull's popularity with voters continues to grow while Bill Shorten slips in the latest polls.

The prime minister has built on his lead over the Labor leader over the Christmas break, with 80.8 per cent of voters backing Mr Turnbull over Mr Shorten's 19.2 per cent, the ReachTEL poll for the Seven Network says.

In November, 71.3 per cent preferred Mr Turnbull as the better prime minister while Mr Shorten had 28.7 per cent backing him.
