The CFMEU has obtained a Federal Court injunction stopping the Australian Federal Police from inspecting material seized in a raid at the trade union's Brisbane headquarters.
Police from the trade union royal commission's special task force searched the Bowen Hills offices on Thursday morning, reportedly looking for evidence of document destruction.
The Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union are questioning the validity of the raid, with the matter to be heard in Federal Court on November 24.
"We now know 32 federal police were involved in the raid, which is an extraordinary waste of resources," national secretary Dave Noonan told AAP.
In September, the Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance and Corruption heard state secretary Michael Ravbar and former union state president David Hanna tried to burn documents the same day they were served with a notice from the commission to produce them.
Mr Noonan has rejected those allegations, saying the CFMEU has complied fully with the investigations.
