Nearly 150 revellers have been charged with drug offences at a dance festival in Sydney.

Police targeting the New Year's Day dance festival, Field Day, at The Domain swooped on more than 140 people who were taking drugs, they said on Thursday.

They also ejected 22 party-goers for drunken and disorderly behaviour.

Two men, aged 18 and 20, were arrested and charged with supplying drugs after the older man was allegedly discovered with 35 ecstasy tablets.

They will face court next month.

Overall, police said the near-20,0000 strong crowd was well-behaved.

"We will continue to run these operations to ensure music-lovers can attend festivals and enjoy themselves in a safe, drug-free environment," Chief Inspector Stuart Bell said.
