Townsville detectives investigating the suspicious disappearance of a 48-year-old Condon woman have this afternoon charged a 47-year-old man with murder, Queensland police say.

The 48-year-old mother and scientist was reported missing by her sister last Thursday, but she hasn't been seen since early March.

Subsequent investigations have resulted in a 47-year-old Condon man being charged with one count each of murder and interfering with a corpse, police say.

He is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Police are continuing to search for the woman’s body and want to hear from anyone who may have seen Ms Hutchinson or the vehicle she may have been driving - a 2004 silver, Mazda6 sedan with Queensland registration 622-HZE.
