A huge public response has provided more than 50 new lines of inquiry for the investigation into the murder of a woman whose body was found at a remote north Queensland beach.

Toyah Cordingley, 24, went missing on Sunday after taking a dog for a walk on Wangetti beach, 40km north of Cairns.

On Monday her body, reportedly bearing "visible, violent" injuries, was located in dunes on the beach.

Ms Cordingley's murder has shocked the beachside community and Detective Inspector Sonia Smith said 240 reports had been made to Crime Stoppers, with 50 being of interest to investigators.

"This terrible crime has shocked and saddened the community and we're seeing the result of this through the large number of reports from the public to both Policelink and Crime Stoppers," Det Insp Smith told reporters on Thursday.

"We still need more information and even if you think your information is vague, or insignificant, please pass it onto us, and we can assess it.

"Sometimes the biggest breakthroughs come from the smallest piece of information."

Despite the overwhelming response, investigators seem to be no closer to solving who killed the popular animal lover.

Police divers have concluded their operations at the beach, a part of which remains a crime scene.

On Thursday police combed the area with forensic dogs as they continue to hunt for any clues that may lead them to Ms Cordingley's killer.

"Someone out there definitely knows who did this. That's part of our appeal to our community," Ms Smith said.

"We've collected a number of items on the beach. That will all form part of the investigation."

More information needed

Ms Smith refused to speculate on whether police believe the killer remains in the area or if the dog Ms Cordingley had been walking had been tested to see if it had bitten her attacker.

Crime Stoppers displays will be established over the weekend at the Rusty's Markets in Cairns and at Wangetti beach in the hopes it will jog the memory of any other witnesses.

"It doesn't matter how small or how big they think the information is, please come forward," Ms Smith said.

Regular users of the Wangetti car park at the southern end of the beach and anyone who may have interacted with Ms Cordingley when she visited Rusty's Markets on Sunday between midday and 1pm are of particular interest to investigators.

Ms Smith said the public had provided dash cam footage from October 21 on the Captain Cook Highway between the beach's northern and southern car parks, but more footage would be welcomed.

"We have a team of dedicated officers working around the clock, 24/7, determined to find answers for Toyah's family and friends, and to obtain justice for Toyah," she said.
