A police dog has helped take down a man who fled through several backyards, a storm drain and a creek in central Queensland.

When the man, 27, ran from a car in Rockhampton on Sunday night the dog squad was called and tracked him to a carport.

He was bitten on the leg by Police Dog Troll, and found to be in possession of Ice and cannabis, police say.

He's facing a string of charges, including four counts of trespass, and will face the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on September 22.
