Police free children locked in Sydney car

A woman has accidentally locked her two children, aged one and two, in her car in Sydney's southwest.

Police have helped free two children from a locked car in Sydney's southwest.

A woman on Saturday accidentally locked her car keys and children, aged one and two, inside her car in Fairfield, where the temperature reached 30 degrees.

The woman was putting her shopping in her car when the incident occurred.

She called the NRMA and then the police, who smashed a window and plucked the children out.

A police spokeswoman said the children were in the car for about 20 minutes and were later taken to hospital for "precautionary" checks.

No police action will be taken against the woman, who police say didn't do anything wrong.
