Police hunt driver after Brisbane accident

Police are appealing for the driver of a black car to come forward after a pedestrian was struck by two vehicles north of Brisbane.

Police are on the hunt for a driver of a car who failed to stop after striking a man on a street north of Brisbane.

The pedestrian was crossing a major intersection at Kallangur at 8.30pm on Saturday night when it's alleged he crossed the road against a red light and was struck by a black sedan with the driver not stopping to help.

The man was then struck again by a second vehicle, an SUV, with the driver of that car stopping and providing details of the incident to police.

The man was taken to Royal Brisbane Hospital in a serious condition and police are appealing for the driver to come forward.

In another accident, a 40-year-old man died around 1.15pm on Saturday after a head-on collision on the Bruce Highway near Gympie.

The driver, a 55-year-old man, received minor injuries in the crash.

Also on Saturday a 59-year-old man suffered serious head and chest injuries in a two-car crash on the Cunningham Highway at Tregony, west of Ipswich.

The man was driving one of the vehicles involved in the crash while the 49-year-old woman driving the other car suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Ipswich Hospital.

The accidents continue a bad weekend on Queensland roads after a man died when he was run over in the driveway of his Toowoomba home by an Uber driver who was bringing his wife home in the early hours of Saturday morning.

On Friday evening, two Taiwanese women, aged 25 and 27, died at the scene of a two-car crash near St George when the car they were in collided with a 4WD.
