Police have located the body of a 46-year-old woman from the wreckage of a Vietnamese family's home in Brisbane, after a fire started on Christmas afternoon.

Officers say two children, aged 8 and 15, have been rescued and are now being treated in hospital.

A Queensland police spokesman says there are indications the fire may have been deliberately lit.

He says authorities are trying to get in contact with the father of the children, who's currently overseas, and other family members.

"We are attempting to contact the extended family and that's part of the investigation we've been undertaking since yesterday afternoon and they are still undergoing as we speak."
