Police investigate 'suspicious' Vic death

Victoria Police is calling on the community to help determine how an elderly woman died after her body was found in her home in Melbourne's northwest.

Homicide detectives are trying to piece together the final moments of an elderly woman's life after a neighbour found her injured body at home in Melbourne's northwest.

A man, who had come to discuss repairs, found Vicki Ramadan dead at her Marlborough Way home at Sydenham in Melbourne's northwest, nine days after she was last seen.

"There is some injuries to the lady that obviously we are still looking at," homicide Detective Sergeant Graham Ross told reporters, of Saturday's grim discovery.

The 77-year-old's death has been deemed suspicious and a post-mortem is yet to reveal how she died, he said.

Police will investigate whether her death is linked to a nearby vacant house known to have squatters, and stated the dead woman had previously reported numerous burglaries.

"I'm asking the public if they find anything in their gardens, or that's out of character that's not owned by them to come forward and contact police," the homicide officer said.

Ms Ramadan was last seen alive on March 29 when a neighbour spotted her wandering the streets looking disoriented, before dropping her home.

Anyone who saw Ms Ramadan between March 29 and April 6 is urged to speak to police.
