Police investigate Sydney carjacking

Police are appealing for information about a carjacking and robbery in the city's inner suburbs on Friday night.

Police are looking for a man who allegedly carjacked a woman then robbed a food stall in Sydney's inner-city.

Police said the man stopped the woman's car on Wentworth Park Rd, Glebe, before getting inside and threatening her with a knife, about 10.20pm (AEDT) Friday.

The man then ordered the woman out of the car and drove off.

A short time later, a food stall in Haymarket was robbed by a man who ran from the area.

Police later spotted the woman's car on Parramatta Road and pursued it until the man bailed out of the vehicle near railway lines at Marrickville.

They searched for the man but couldn't find him.

He's described as being of Asian appearance, slim, and in his late 30s.
