South Australian Police have confirmed they are now investigating three murders in the town of Kapunda.
ABC Adelaide reports that SES workers have been asked to search for a bloodied knife, with police saying the three members of the same family were murdered late Sunday or Monday morning.
"We are treating this as a triple homicide investigation", Detective Superintendent Grant Moyle said, reports the ABC.
Earlier, the mayor of Kapunda, north of Adelaide, said the town is struggling to come to terms with the discovery of three bodies in a house.
Robert Hornsey says there's a sense of disbelief among residents who are having trouble coming to grips with the fact that such a tragedy could occur, AAP reported.
He's told ABC radio everybody is concerned and, and taking seriously the police messages to be vigilant about their safety.
Andrew and Rose Rowe lived in the rented house with their 16-year-old daughter Chantelle.
He's asked for help from any members of the small community .. or anyone passing through the area .. who saw anything unusual.
