The homes of underworld figure Mick Gatto have been raided by police as part of an ongoing investigation.

Police have raided the Melbourne homes of well-known underworld figure Mick Gatto as part of an ongoing investigation.

The Age reported police officers from the Purana Taskforce raided the homes in Thames Place, Mount Martha, and Roseburn Court, Lower Plenty on Thursday.

A police spokeswoman told The Age the search warrants were realted to an ongoing "deception investigation".

No arrests have been made.

In 2005 Mr Gatto was found not guilty of the murder of suspected underworld hitman Andrew Veniamin.

He was also portrayed in a series of the television drama Underbelly by actor Simon Westaway, which focused on the Melbourne gangland killings.
