Police say 'too early' to link human remains to missing Melbourne mum

Human remains have been found on the Victoria coast near where missing mother Elisa Curry was last seen.

A dog walker has found what police suspect to be human remains on Victoria's surf coast this morning, but investigators have said it's too early to make a link to missing Melbourne mum Elisa Curry.

The remains were found by a woman who was walking her dog near the town of Anglesea on Wednesday, according to Victoria Police.

The woman contacted police about 11.30am who went to investigate further.

A pathologist is now working to identify the person and cause of death.

Police have declined to confirm the gender or what exactly was found by the woman.
A Victoria Police spokesman said the remains will be sent to the coroner's court to be forensically examined.

"Police are currently responding to reports of suspected human remains located on the coast near Anglesea," a police spokesperson told SBS News.

"The remains will need to be examined by a pathologist to establish the identity of the person and cause of death."

The discovery comes 11 days after 43-year-old Ms Curry vanished from Aireys Inlet, just 10km away.

The keen runner was known to jog long distances from the family's holiday home and was last seen on September 30.

A week-long search of land, water and from the air failed to find Ms Curry before attempts were called off by emergency services.

Television news footage shows detectives on the sand at Point Roadknight, a beach near Anglesea, on Wednesday.
