Victoria Police are looking for more information about a man who was run over by a car in Kilsyth, east of Melbourne, before he got into the passenger seat.

The man was walking along Canterbury Road when a white car was struck shortly after 4pm on Wednesday.

In footage of the incident, the man is seen flying through the air before landing on a median strip, police say.

He then appears to crawl towards the car, opens the passenger's door and gets in. The car then drives off.

Police believe the driver and the alleged victim know each other.

The incident was reported to police by a witness, but the man who was hit has not come forward.

There are concerns for his welfare as he has not sought treatment from any hospitals in the area.

Police have urged anyone who knows the identity of the alleged victim or the driver of the car to make contact.

The car is believed to be a white Toyota Corolla or a similar model but had no registration plates.

Photos have been released by police in a bid to identify the man hit by the car.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit an online report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
