Police take reports on Coorong attack

South Australian police are investigating more than 20 reports to Crime Stoppers related to the sex attack on two women southeast of Adelaide.

South Australian police have taken 26 reports through Crime Stoppers as they continue to investigate the sex attack on two backpackers at a remote beach, southeast of Adelaide.

Detectives from the Coorong task force have now spoken to both victims and returned to the Salt Creek scene, in the Coorong National Park, on Monday.

A 59-year-old man has been charged with a string of offences including unlawful sexual intercourse and attempted murder in relation to the incident last week and will return to court in April.

Two women, aged in their 20s, were injured in the alleged attack with one suffering serious head trauma.

Task force detectives are inquiring into the "wider circumstances" surrounding the attack and are checking missing persons files across the country.

They are also going through the history of the alleged offender to determine if he can be linked to any other crimes.

Police said anyone with information about Tuesday's incident should still come forward.

All reports received so far were being investigated, they said.
