Police are set to swarm on Carlton's Lygon St Italian precinct and in surrounding streets on Friday night as part of Operation Traction.
The move was sparked by a motorcyclist caught doing 122km/h in a 40km/h zone on Lygon Street last week.
Police said they were appalled by the increase in reports of motorcyclists riding on footpaths and performing unsafe manoeuvres on Lygon Street.
The Melbourne Highway Patrol said there was "reckless behaviour" displayed by some motorcyclists.
"Riders need to make sure they wear appropriate clothing, avoiding lane splitting, and keep an eye out for other vehicles on the road," a patrol spokesman said in a statement.
During Operation Traction in January this year, police nabbed 117 drivers and motorcyclists during a two-night blitz.
