Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Prime Minister Scott Morrison are the among the many Australians to heap praise on Ash Barty for her French Open tennis title victory.
"I think everyone across Queensland is once again very proud of Ash Barty," Ms Palaszczuk told reporters in Brisbane on Sunday.
"She is a great role model and inspiration to many young Queenslanders, I hope that they will dream to follow in her footsteps.
"To see someone of her calibre and sheer determination, it shows that Queenslanders can do anything so well done Ash, well done to her family, her coach, her trainers and everyone involved, its onwards and upwards from here."
Earlier Mr Morrison had tweeted his congratulations to Barty "on a stunning victory in the French Open. Our newest Aussie champion!"

Federal Sports Minister Richard Colbeck also tweeted: "Huge congratulations to @ashbar96 on wonderful victory in the French open final..."
Federal Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese added his tribute when speaking to reporters in Perth.
"All of Australia are very pleased and proud. Not only is she a great tennis player, she is a great ambassador for Australia. Well done Ash," he said.
Barty, 23, beat unseeded Czech Marketa Vondrousova 6-1 6-3 in the Paris final overnight to become the first Australian woman to win the French title since Margaret Court in 1973.
