Politician pay rise expected

The Remuneration Tribunal decision on a widely-discussed payrise for Australia's politicians will be handed down today in Sydney.

Leaks have suggested politicians can expect pay increases in return for losing some of their perks.

Remuneration Tribunal president John Conde will release the Tribunal's decision at 11am at the Commonwealth government offices in Sydney.

News Limited papers have reported that expected big boosts in politician salaries could put Prime Minister Julia Gillard into a higher pay bracket than US President Barack Obama.
