The coalition's support has dropped two points in four weeks, a new poll shows.

The Essential poll published on Tuesday puts the government's two-party preferred support at 51 per cent to Labor's 49 per cent - down from 53 per cent a month ago.

The poll also found 52 per cent of voters say coalition policies favour the rich, while 21 per cent say they favour the average Australian.
