The Australian Electoral Commission received the final trickle of postal votes on Friday, after which a full distribution of preferences can occur in order to declare results in outstanding seats.

Twelve seats were set to be formally declared on Monday following the final results being announced in 34 seats on Friday.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison, who was sworn in on Wednesday along with his ministry, is on track to hold 77 lower house seats in the new parliament.

Only two seats remain close - Tasmania's Bass and Macquarie in NSW.
