Poll: Where will rates go this year?

Interest rates maybe on hold, but for how long? SBS' Ricardo Goncalves asked a group of economists where they think rates will be by the end of the year.

An exclusive SBS Poll of 15 economists found all expect at least 1 more rate rise by the end of the year.

Most - 53 per cent - or eight of the 15 - predict the official cash rate to climb to 5 per cent.

And that has prompted mortgage experts to encourage borrowers to do a financial health check.
