Ricky Ponting has been run out for a world-record 13th time as Australia reached 2-84 at lunch on the first day of the second Test against New Zealand.
Ponting (22) pushed a ball to mid-off and set off for a single but his rival skipper Daniel Vettori, playing his 100th Test, threw the stumps down at the bowler's end.
It was the second successive run out for Ponting, both times with Katich as his partner. However this time it seemed to be the skipper's call to take the single at Hamilton's Seddon Park.
Ponting's 13th run out in 144 Tests is a world record, beating the 12 by fellow Australians Allan Border and Matthew Hayden.
Katich is 46 not out with Mike Hussey on two.
Shane Watson, who returned to the side after missing the first Test with a hip injury, mis-timed a pull shot on 12 and was caught at mid-on from the bowling of Tim Southee.
Ponting won the toss for the eighth successive time, dating back to the fifth ODI match against the West Indies in Melbourne on February 19 and including the five ODI matches in New Zealand earlier this month.
Australia lead the two-Test series 1-0 after a 10-wicket win in Wellington on Tuesday.
