The stage was set for Australia to complete a second straight Test win on day four.
However, only 4890 people attended on Sunday - more than 1700 less than last season's day-four Gabba crowd figure (6608) against New Zealand that earned the ire of Cricket Australia.
Still, the overall attendance for the Australia-Pakistan clash after four days is 75,502 - easily a Brisbane record for a non-Ashes match.
The threat of thunderstorms on Sunday would have been a deterrent to punters.
Crowds of 26,353 and 23,344 on the opening two days of the pink-ball clash were bolstered by 20,915 on Saturday.
However, that trend was snapped on Sunday.

CA CEO James Sutherland had put the Gabba on notice last week, saying it was no guarantee to open future summers from 2017 due to poor crowds.
But in an about face, he did not rule out Brisbane hosting day-night summer openers from 2018 after three days of bumper Gabba attendances this week.
