Pop-up mall set for bushfire-ravaged NSW town of Mogo

Up to 10 businesses will be housed in a temporary shopping centre being erected in the NSW village of Mogo, a community still reeling from devastating New Year's Eve bushfires.

A pop-up shopping and commercial hub will be erected to help bushfire-destroyed businesses flourish again in the NSW south coast village of Mogo.

Donated demountable buildings - arriving in Mogo on Saturday - will within weeks house up to 10 local businesses that lost premises, equipment and merchandise in the New Year's Eve fires.

"We are doing everything we can to help regions like Mogo get back on their feet after the devastating fires," Business Council of Australia chief executive Jennifer Westacott said in a statement.

"(Community rebuilding initiative) BizRebuild is determined to rekindle a sense of community in Mogo by rebuilding businesses and the local economy.

"The pop up mall will also generate much-needed work for local tradesmen and suppliers."

The mall will operate until alternative arrangements have been made for local businesses, expected to take about 12 months to two years, the BCA said.
