Port axe three for must-win AFL encounter

As Port Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs make nine changes between them, Hawthorn have regained classy veteran Shaun Burgoyne.

Sam Gray has led the axings amid five changes to Port Adelaide for their must-win AFL clash against the Western Bulldogs.

The injury-plagued Bulldogs will welcome back star onballer Marcus Bontempelli amid four forced changes for the Sunday clash in Ballarat.

Classy veteran Shaun Burgoyne will return for Hawthorn and Cam McCarthy is out of Fremantle's line-up again for the Optus Stadium match as Sunday teams were confirmed late on Friday afternoon.

Gray is out of the Power lineup for the first time this season.

They also dropped Jack Trengove and Lindsay Thomas, while Dougal Howard (hand) and Karl Amon (knee).

All-Australian ruckman Paddy Ryder and defender Tom Jonas are major inclusions for Port, who are coming off successive losses to Fremantle and GWS.

Kane Farrell will make his AFL debut and Port also recalled Riley Bonner and Steven Motlop.

Bontempelli will return from appendicitis to boost the Bulldogs, who lost Roarke Smith on Friday morning after he suffered a cut head in a car accident.

Tom Boyd (back), Luke Dahlhaus (ankle) and Billy Gowers (ankle) are injured.

Premiership player Fletcher Roberts will play his first senior game since round one, Fergus Greene will make his AFL debut and Patrick Lipinski will also return.

McCarthy goes out of the Dockers line-up after two senior games and Ethan Hughes was also dropped.

Fremantle rested veteran Michael Johnson.

Andrew Brayshaw, Sean Darcy and Stephen Hill will return.

Burgoyne is back from a month out with a hamstring injury to boost the Hawks for their danger game.

Star onballer Jaeger O'Meara is back from his hip injury, Daniel Howe is suspended and the Hawks left out Harry Morrison.

West Coast have made one change for Sunday's Hobart game against North Melbourne, although key forward Josh Kennedy did not fly with the team and remains in doubt.

The Eagles lost Lewis Jetta (calf) and Tom Barrass will take his place.

North will regain Mason Wood from a hamstring injury and Will Walker will make his AFL debut.

The Kangaroos dropped Luke Davies-Uniacke and Alex Morgan has a calf muscle injury.
