Power coach Ken Hinkley is backing triple club champion Robbie Gray to find form in Sunday's AFL clash with Fremantle.

Gray's pre-season was restricted by groin issues and he had just eight disposals in Port's season-opening win against Sydney last week.

"Robbie will be the first to say he wasn't as clean as he would have liked," Hinkley said.

"He has had some groin issues and stuff over the summer but it's not stuff that stops a player of Robbie's quality.

"I think Robbie will play pretty well this week."

Port made just one change for the Adelaide Oval fixture against the Dockers, dropping upgraded rookie Brett Eddy in favour of Jarman Impey.

Impey was serving a club-imposed suspension in the season-opener for an incident last December which led to him appearing in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday.

Impey was leaving a party at a teammate's house when his car crashed into four parked vehicles. He fled the scene.

Impey pleaded guilty to pleading guilty to driving without due care, failing to exchange particulars, and failing to report the collision. He was fined $700.

"Jarman made a big mistake and he's owned that," Hinkley said.

"We have made him pay a price for that and he couldn't have done any more to earn the trust back of the group.

"Jarman was a first-class person before the mistake. He has learnt from that mistake and hopefully that proof will continue to be throughout his whole life and not just his football one."

Hinkley said Impey's speed would be welcomed against the Dockers, who are seeking a first win of the season, while counting 27-year-old Eddy unlucky to be dropped a week after his AFL debut.

"Jarman is part of our best team and when you have got players of that quality available, you have got to put them in the team," Hinkley said.

"Brett did everything he could to help us get a win.

"We think our best model is based around defensive pressure as a team and we think Jarman helps us improve that.

"One is super fast and one is a taller player, so we have got the ability to put a bit more speed in the team."
