Port Adelaide AFL champion Robbie Gray can't remember feeling happier on a footy field.
Six-goal hero Gray says his emotions ran rampant at Saturday's final siren of Port's thrilling five-point win against arch foes Adelaide.
"The emotions I felt when that siren went, it's right up there with anything across my footy career," Gray said,
"It's certainly a special one."
Gray produced a spell of brilliance to inspire Port to a memorable triumph.
The Power were 21 points down at halftime. Gray booted five goals in a 25-minute spree in the third term to turn the tide.
His feats were rewarded with a third Showdown medal - the award given to best-afield in the grudge matches between Port and the Crows.
He joins three other players as triple winners of the medal - Mark Ricciuito, Sam Jacobs and Josh Francou.
"It's nice, but it's nicer to get the win," Gray said.
The triple club champion and dual All Australian was diagnosed last September with testicular cancer - he had successful surgery and precautionary chemotherapy.
"I'm really happy to be back playing footy ... it was a pretty big last six months for me," he said.
Power coach Ken Hinkley described Gray as a great player.
"He's in the top lot," Hinkley said.
"You don't do what Robbie has done - three-time best and fairest, All Australians, Showdown medals - he's a great player - simple."
