Port Adelaide expect influential duo Chad Wingard and Hamish Hartlett to return from injury for Sunday's away AFL clash against Greater Western Sydney.

Hartlett has missed two games and Wingard one because of hamstring injuries.

Teammate Jackson Trengove says if both complete Wednesday's main training, they'll be inclusions for the road trip to meet the Giants.

"They are two really quality players. We all know what they can do and what they add to our footy team," Trengove told reporters on Monday.

"All reports are they are going really well ... I'm pretty sure both the boys are pretty close or will play this weekend."

The prognosis on Jay Schulz is less certain after injections to try to soothe a back injury which has sidelined the key forward for the past two matches.

"He is having a little bit of trouble with it," Trengove said.

"He did get a good response from the jabs but it's still a bit of a waiting game for Jay."

Port (two wins, one loss) meet the Giants after a 10-goal triumph against Essendon which was expected, yet still welcomed by Trengove and his teammates.

"It was a big improvement in the way we want to play our footy," he said.

"We set up a lot better and were a lot stronger in defence and in attack we were able to bring that exciting style of football.

"It was still a little bit patchy for us ... (but) it was definitely a big step in the right direction."
