Port Adelaide's Nathan Krakouer is in trouble after a Saturday night incident where the AFL defender damaged a taxi.
Krakouer was out of contract already at the end of the season and his AFL career looks over.
The driver called the police, but no charges are likely to be laid.
The club released a statement, saying Krakouer had agreed to pay for the damages and had apologised.
The Power added that Krakouer will front their player leadership group in the next fortnight.
According to media reports, he became angry and lashed out when his credit card was declined several times as he tried to pre-pay for a fare.
The incident happened in suburban Salisbury West and Krakouer was travelling to the Adelaide CBD.
Krakouer, 29, has played 82 AFL games since his debut with Port in 2007.
He left the Power at the end of 2010 and played one season at Gold Coast before quitting the AFL.
In 2015, he returned to Port Adelaide, but has not played any AFL matches this season.
In a June media interview, he detailed how problems with alcohol, drugs and depression led him to leave the Suns and temporarily abandon the AFL.
Once his playing career ends, he hopes to become a coach and help indigenous players avoid the mistakes he made.
He is the nephew of North Melbourne greats Phil and Jimmy Krakouer and the cousin of former Richmond and Collingwood player Andrew Krakouer.
