Potential headlines NRL off-contract list

While last year was all about big-money moves for marquee players, the NRL's off-contract list headed into the end of 2018 is all about signings on potential.

BEST OFF-CONTRACT NRL TALENT TO END 2018

* Corey Oates -- No certainty to stay at Brisbane after being linked to both North Queensland and Parramatta for next year. Will wait until August before making a call.

* Tevita Pangai Junior -- Indicated to reporters this week he'd wait until November to decide his future. The Sydney Roosters could be interested but fellow hopefuls Newcastle are consigned to him staying at Brisbane.

* Jamayne Isaako -- Has turned into hot property this year at Brisbane. Been linked to the Sydney Roosters as a replacement for Blake Ferguson. Can also kick goals - something the Roosters are desperately in need of.

* Jaydn Su'A -- Regarded as one of the best young forward talents in the game. Gold Coast are most definitely interested in him but is another one the Broncos want to, and are expected to, keep.

* Brett Morris -- Expected to make a decision on his future in the next couple of weeks. Wants to play on and while Canterbury will no doubt want to keep him, their salary cap situation could still prove an issue as it was for twin brother Josh.

* Issac Luke -- Has slipped under the recruitment radar at age 31. The former Kiwis hooker has made clear that he wants to remain with the Warriors but the club are yet to re-sign him.

* Jarryd Hayne -- Won't make a decision until after the season ends on what he'll do with his future. If he does remain in the NRL, Parramatta would be most likely to keep him - if they elect to.

* Jason Nightingale -- Has been dropped back to the bench over the past two months at age 31. Has played his whole NRL career at St George Illawarra.

* Rhyse Martin -- In negotiations at Canterbury with the Bulldogs desperate to hang onto him. Has been their shining light in what's been a disastrous year at Belmore.

* Keegan Hipgrave -- Has made a name of himself as a tough man this year but it could be squeezed out with Shannon Boyd coming to the Gold Coast. Was reportedly spotted meeting with Cronulla officials earlier this year.

* James Segeyaro -- Admitted last week he wasn't sure what his future held but he was in no rush to make a decision. It's unknown if Cronulla will keep him, given they have Blayke Brailey coming through the ranks as a hooker.

* Potential Retirees -- Paul Gallen, Billy Slater, Cameron Smith, John Sutton, Benji Marshall, Robbie Farah are all yet to make a call on their future but won't leave their clubs if they do play on at season's end.
