Port Adelaide's free agency offer to Tom Rockliff was the only paperwork lodged with the AFL on Tuesday as the trade period continued its sluggish start.
AFL club representatives convened at Etihad Stadium on Monday morning for the official start of the annual player movement period but the day closed without any trades completed.
Melbourne's Jack Watts toured Geelong's facilities on Tuesday as he continues to weigh up his trade options, but he left the Cattery without committing to join Chris Scott's team.
Port's Jackson Trengove joined the Western Bulldogs on Friday - when free agency opened - with the Power making their bid to lure Rockliff official on the second day of the trade period.
The former Brisbane captain is a restricted free agent, which leaves the Lions three days to decide whether they will match Port's deal.
However, Brisbane are unlikely to take that path, preferring instead to let the disgruntled midfielder go and receive a compensatory draft pick from the AFL.
"In all my discussions with Brisbane I would be surprised if they were going to match," Rockliff's manager Tom Petroro told AFL Trade Radio.
"But obviously they've got to do their due diligence and go through a process.
"I don't see us having any hold up there."
Carlton also made a strong bid to sign Rockliff, but he chose Port because he felt their chances of premiership success were greater.
The 27-year-old unsuccessfully sought a trade at the end of last season and was subsequently stripped of the captaincy by new Lions coach Chris Fagan.
Rockliff played 154 games for the 'Gabba based club after joining via the 2009 pre-season draft. He also won their best-and-fairest award twice.
Brisbane are likely to receive an end-of-first round pick from the AFL for the loss of Rockliff.
Port have already received a compensatory pick (No.30) for the loss of Trengove to the Bulldogs, but the addition of Rockliff will see them forfeit that pick.
Power speedster Jarman Impey, another client of Petroro's, will likely get his wish to be traded to Hawthorn after positive preliminary discussions between the clubs.
Petroro also believes it is highly doubtful North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein and Collingwood's Alex Fasolo, also clients, will be traded.
In list management moves made on Tuesday:
* Port Adelaide's Angus Monfries announced his retirement after 211 games in stints with Essendon and Port.
* Collingwood delisted Lachlan Keeffe, Henry Schade, Liam Mackie and Mitch McCarthy.
