Power set to be restored in Bowen

Australians should be proud of the speed at which defence personnel are tackling the Cyclone Debbie recovery, says Malcolm Turnbull.

Specialist electricians have arrived in Bowen to assist with restoring power after Cyclone Debbie.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has been informed by recovery coordinator Brigadier Chris Field that electrical specialists have been deployed to the north Queensland town.

"The speed of the reaction of the Australian Defence Force should make every single one of us so proud," Mr Turnbull told parliament, after visiting Bowen with Labor leader Bill Shorten earlier on Thursday.
