Prakash death 'positive': Turnbull

Australian terrorist Neil Prakash has been a target for some time and his death is a positive development in the war against Islamic State.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says the death of Australian Neil Prakash is a "positive development" in the war against terror.

The Islamic State operative behind the recruitment of foreign fighters and a string of failed terrorism plots was killed in an targeted US air strike in northern Iraq nearly a week ago.

"He has been a target for some time, as he should have been," Mr Turnbull told Sky News on Thursday.
