A pregnant woman and Japanese tourists are among 16 people who were injured when a minibus and a 4WD collided on a Gold Coast road.

A pregnant woman is among 16 people who were taken to hospital following a collision between a tourist bus and a 4WD in the Gold Coast hinterland.

The woman, who was travelling in the 4WD, was a priority for paramedics after they arrived at the scene on Nerang-Murwillumbah Road near Advancetown just after 9am on Thursday.

Nineteen people, including the 15 Japanese passengers of the minibus, were treated at the scene.

The pregnant woman and 15 others were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with minor injuries.

The road has been closed and authorities advise people to seek alternative routes.
