Preps for trans Tasman league clash

Australian back-rower Paul Gallen faces a race against time to prove his fitness for Friday night's trans-Tasman rugby league Test against New Zealand at Skilled Park.

Prop Matt Scott is nursing an ankle complaint and only went through light duties before leaving Tuesday's session on the Gold Coast.

But the real concern is Gallen, who missed his second straight session.

Time is running out for Gallen with Australia not scheduling training on Wednesday.

It means Gallen will have only one on-field session with his Australian teammates before the trans-Tasman clash at Skilled Park if passed fit.

In another concern for Gallen, the 18th man - Dragons back-rower Beau Scott - took part in the whole session on Tuesday.
