The winner of the vote at a special FIFA session in Zurich will inherit an organisation desperate to reverse a reputation of entrenched corruption.

Long-standing president Sepp Blatter resigned last year -- himself implicated in international allegations of corruption that have led to the arrest of multiple high-profile FIFA officials.

SBS Europe correspondent Brett Mason is in Zurich, following developments.
