Warrington coach Steve Price praised his side's resilience after they overcame atrocious conditions to beat Castleford 18-6 in a mud bath at Wheldon Road.
The Wolves scored tries at the end of each half through Toby King and Daryl Clark but for most of the contest were indebted to the marksmanship of Stefan Ratchford, whose three penalty goals were crucial.
"That was tough going considering the conditions," former St George Illawarra mentor Price said. "I've just spoken to Hilly (captain Chris Hill) and he's never played in those conditions before.
"I was always keen to play the game and it's credit to Cas for going above and beyond to get the game to go ahead.
"Overall I thought it was a good spectacle. We had to play well against a good quality football team and our completion rate was 83 per cent. Sometimes you don't need to look fancy.

"It was a tough battle and it's good to get away with the two points."
Warrington, who lost goalkicking centre Bryson Goodwin to illness before the game, have now secured four straight wins to consolidate their place in the top four of the Super League.
"We've definitely started to turn the corner," Price added. "I said it was always going to take a bit of time with new systems but we are starting to grow some trust in the organisation."
Wigan scored a big win over Tim Sheens' Hull KR, four tries to Liam Marshall headlining the 44-6 rout at the DW Stadium with the former Wests Tigers and Raiders coach lamenting his side's discipline.
"A 6-1 penalty count in the first half, followed by 18-9 overall and a sin bin off it as well didn't help us," said Sheens.
"Then with what ball we were getting, not finding touch and losing it on first and second tackles and not playing the ball square. They are the things you can't do when you do get an opportunity.
"We have not won a penalty count this year, to my knowledge, and I'm pretty sure I'm right there. From the outside looking in, it may look like our discipline is really bad. But when I phone the league, they'll say that shouldn't have been a penalty and that shouldn't, maybe there will be some of those today. But yeah in that area, I was disappointed. We did some silly things.
"The guys tried, but we are just not putting it together as a group at the minute."
In Monday's late game ex-Gold Coast speedster David Mead bagged a double as Catalans stunned Huddersfield 27-6.
Leeds beat Salford 20-0, Hull FC edged Wakefield 27-26 and Widnes were thrashed at home 28-6 by St Helens.
Former South Sydney back Fetuli Talanoa scored twice for Hull while ex-Cronulla and Titans playmaker Albert Kelly also got on the scoresheet.
