Primary school closed as WA bushfire rages

A school in WA's south will be closed for two days due to hot weather and the threat of a nearby out-of-control bushfire.

A primary school in Western Australia's south will be closed for two days due to hot weather and worsening fire conditions as a blaze rages nearby.

Condingup Primary will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday and a watch and act alert is in place for nearby Boyatup, Howick, Beaumont, and Cape Arid in the Shire of Esperance.

The out-of-control bushfire is moving in a south westerly direction and has been burning since Sunday, sparked by lightning.

About 17,500 hectares has been burnt.
