Prime Minister Scott Morrison has paid tribute to his father, John, who has died at the age of 84.
Mr Morrison said he received the sad news that his father had passed away on Wednesday night.
"He lived a great life and was much loved," the prime minister said in a message posted on Facebook.
He said he had been a "loving husband" to his mother Marion for 57 years, a "wonderful father" to him and his brother, Alan, and a devoted grandfather.

"Dad had a deep and committed Christian faith, which is one of his numerous legacies in my life. Our family will miss him terribly, but we are extremely thankful for his great blessing in all of our lives."
John Morrison served in the army, worked as an officer in the NSW Police Force, and was a councillor and mayor at Sydney's Waverley Council.
Julia Gillard, whose father John died in 2012 during her term as prime minister, expressed her condolences to Mr Morrison.
"Losing your dad is always hard, and even more so when you are serving as PM. My thoughts are with him and his family," Ms Gillard tweeted.
