Prison escapee on the run in WA

The public has been warned not to approach a man who escaped from a West Australian prison because he is unpredictable.

A man has escaped from a regional West Australian prison while on an approved prison activity in the community.

Shane Phillip Winmar, 42, was last seen at the Mandurah Indoor Sports Centre just before 7pm (WST) on Wednesday.

Police say Winmar is considered unpredictable.

He is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, 175cm tall, of medium build with dark short hair with a rats tail.

Winmar was last seen wearing green prison tracksuit pants and a blue tank top.
