A prisoner who escaped from St Heliers Correctional Centre in Muswellbrook in July, has been arrested at a home in Sydney's Sutherland Shire.

Police say Myles Fergus Wilson was noticed missing during a check of inmates on Friday July 24.

The 58-year-old was tracked to a home in Alfords point on Sunday night, where officers found him hiding in a kitchen cupboard.
