Prisons, kindergartens on Vic poll trail

The Liberal-Nationals are promising to build Victoria's largest prison to cope with its law and order crack down, while Labor pledges schools and kindergartens.

VICTORIA'S ELECTION TRAIL ON WEDNESDAY

WHERE THEY WENT:

* Daniel Andrews: Pakenham (in the electorate of Bass)

* Matthew Guy: Lara (Lara), Sunbury (Sunbury)

WHAT THEY SAID:

* "You can't be in multiple places at once." - Premier Daniel Andrews on co-locating kindergartens at primary schools to help with child drop-offs

* "I am committed to ensuring a mandatory minimum jail term regime is implemented, that will require more prison beds." - Matthew Guy on a new prison

WEDNESDAY'S PROMISES:

* Labor:

- $850 million to construct 24 pre-approved schools and plan for 55 more

- Kindergartens at all new public primary schools

* Liberal-Nationals

- Redirect $690 million for 1300-bed prison to be built in public-private partnership

- $40 million towards a road crossing over the Sunbury rail line at Sunbury
