Professor unveils her creepy robot doppleganger

The latest human-like robot (which has its own emotions) is either a technological breakthrough, or the start of a Terminator movie.

Nadine looks like an ordinary receptionist. She is middle aged, stylishly dressed with a neat brown bob, and when you meet her she’ll remember your name and what you last talked about.

But Nadine is anything but ordinary, because she is a robot.

Nadine ‘works’ at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Signapore, and is a near-identical double of her creator Professor Nadia Thalmann.
Powered by intelligent software similar to used by Apple’s Siri, Nadine can hold conversations with humans and even has her own personality.

She is designed as the first generation of social robots that could be used as companions for the young and the elderly.

While Nadine is just a prototype, NTU scientists are working on teaming with companies to bring the social robots to the commercial market.

Your life-size, friendly robot doppleganger could be just a few years away.

Author’s note: reporters are an essential part of the fabric of society and should definitely, under no circumstances be replaced by robots.
