Pros and cons of the Bennett-Seibold swap

The pros and cons for Brisbane and South Sydney with the two NRL clubs to switch head coaches, Wayne Bennett and Anthony Seibold.

WHAT THE ANTHONY SEIBOLD-WAYNE BENNETT SWAP MEANS FOR BRISBANE AND SOUTH SYDNEY:

BRISBANE:

* They get one of the best young coaches in the competition. In his first year in charge of a NRL team, Seibold took the Rabbitohs from 12th to fourth and to within one game of the grand final - without too much change to their roster. He shapes as a potential long-term coach for the glamour club

* Seibold knows the Broncos. After growing up in central Queensland, he spent several years playing reserve grade for Brisbane. He was an assistant to Queensland Origin coach Kevin Walters in 2016-17, working with Darius Boyd, Corey Oates, Matt Gillett and Anthony Milford

* He could spark the Broncos' attack which, at times, lacked direction in 2018. The Rabbitohs were the best attacking team this year and played an exciting, expansive brand of football. He'll also have the best young pack in the competition at his disposal

* Bennett's treatment has upset many former players who are loyal to him, as well as some sections of the club's fans. Much is expected and both Ivan Henjak and Anthony Griffin were sacked as Broncos head coach after Bennett's previous exit. Seibold will need to buck that trend

SOUTH SYDNEY:

* Souths get a contender for greatest rugby league coach of all time. Bennett is a proven premiership winner and will have a point to make after his unceremonious second exit from the Broncos

* At 68, it's been questioned how much longer Bennett can stay in the game but he says he won't let age define him

* Bennett can get the best out of the Burgess brothers. In 2016, he publicly sprayed Sam for his lack of on-field discipline after England's Four Nations loss to Australia - and it turned around his game. George has likewise praised the master coach as a influential figure in his career

* It could lead to a player exodus from Red Hill to Redfern. The likes of Matt Lodge, James Roberts and Tevita Pangai Junior are known to be close to Bennett and might follow him to Souths at some point in the future
