Protesters against the NSW government's WestConnex road project plan to put themselves between trees and bulldozers, a state Greens MP says.
MP for Newtown Jenny Leong has called on residents near Sydney Park, St Peters to get up early on Tuesday to protest against the clearing of trees set to start on the park's southern edge.
The Baird government has acquired hundreds of millions of dollars worth of land to make way for the $16.8 billion project designed to relieve Sydney's choked traffic.
Ms Leong issued a Facebook video on Monday telling her followers it was "outrageous" that the demolition of valuable green space was to start during the new year holiday period.
"If they are going to be so despicable and disgusting as to do it at this time then we have no choice but to give up our precious sleep-in and set the alarm," she said.

Ms Leong said devoted protesters from the 'Save Sydney Park' camp were planning to "literally" put themselves between the trees and bulldozers.
However, she stressed she was not asking all participants to do this.
Comment is being sought from the NSW roads minister's office.
