Garbage trucks are set to blockade the Sydney offices of broadcaster SBS in protest against the controversial documentary Struggle Street.
The show, which follows the lives of locals in the western Sydney suburb of Mount Druitt, prompted outcry from residents over what they say is the broadcaster's unflattering depiction of their area.
After talks between SBS management and Blacktown councillors on Tuesday afternoon failed to lead to the first episode being pulled or delayed, a garbage truck blockade was given the green light to push ahead.
Ten trucks will surround SBS's Artarmon office about 10am on Wednesday.
The protest is backed by Blacktown Mayor Stephen Bali, who has called the show "publicly funded poverty porn" that doesn't reflect life in the area.
Mr Bali has called for the show to be pulled or at least postponed until participants are shown the series before it is aired.
The first episode is scheduled to air on Wednesday night.
SBS has stood by the show, saying it is a fair reflection of the time spent filming.
