The group representing Australia's psychologists is calling for what it calls a rethink of overseas processing of asylum seekers.
The Australian Psychological Society says it's concerned about the recent events at the detention centre in Papua New Guinea.
It says mental health professionals must have a role in the federal government's inquiry into last week's incident that led to the death of an Iranian asylum seeker.
The President of the Australian Psychological Society, Tim Hannan told Greg Dyett the inquiry should have expert input.
