Puncture drops Froome to 14th in Spain

Four-time Tour de France champion Chris Froome has slipped to 14th overall at the Ruta del Sol after a puncture; Belgian Tim Wellens won the fourth stage.

Chris Froome has slipped out of the top 10 in the overall standings at the Ruta del Sol after suffering a puncture towards the end of the fourth stage.

Four-time Tour de France champion Froome, who began Saturday in seventh, crossed the line one minute and 19 seconds after stage winner Tim Wellens to fall to 14th overall.

Belgian Wellens had too much for Movistar's Mikel Landa after the pair broke away from the rest of the pack, beating him to the line by five seconds to claim the leader's red jersey.

Froome's Team Sky teammate Wout Poels, who had led after three stages, finished fourth, just behind Jakob Fuglsang.
