Clive Palmer's political party wants to say "goodbye" to Queensland.
The Palmer United Party (PUP) has formally asked to be deregistered in the Sunshine State, a week after the former federal MP was grilled about the collapse of Queensland Nickel in the federal court.
The Electoral Commission Queensland has received an application from PUP's registered officer, Mr Palmer's nephew Clive Mensink, to cancel the party's registration.
The application was noted in the Queensland Government Gazette, published on Friday.
The move will not effect the party's registration at a federal level.
It comes a day after Mr Palmer, who infamously recorded taunting "goodbye" videos for Bronwyn Bishop and Tony Abbott last year, tweeted: "I love Queensland. Queensland is great."
The party was originally registered in Queensland in 2013 as the United Australia Party and at one stage had two MPs in the state's parliament.
Alex Douglas and Carl Judge joined PUP after defecting from the Liberal National Party but both quit the party before the 2015 election.
PUP ran 50 candidates at that election but got just 5.1 per cent of first preference votes.
The application to deregister the party also comes shortly after Mr Palmer began giving evidence in the federal court with liquidators trying to show he acted as shadow director of Queensland Nickel.
If Mr Palmer is found to have acted as such he will be liable for some of QN's $300 million in debts.
